The Community Museum Society, Inc. (CMS), based in Lake City, S.C., is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that oversees and manages the Historic National Bean Market (a 12,000 sq. ft. event rental facility), the Jones-Carter Gallery (an exhibit and gallery space), the Lake City Farmers Market, the Lynches Lake Historical Society, and the regional National History Day program and competition. In 2014, CMS assumed management of ArtFields®, a community-focused celebration of art awarding $100,000 in prizes to artists from across the Southeast.

A community based organization, CMS is designed to blend the Lake City area’s history and dynamic lifestyle to create and maintain an environment for the preservation and advancement of the arts, culture, and history.

With a small, but efficient staff, CMS is actively working toward accomplishing our mission of preserving and advancing the arts, culture, and history in Lake City and the Pee Dee region. Due to the overwhelming support of our community, dedicated and talented staff and volunteers, and support from our board of directors, CMS has had a direct and lasting impact on Lake City’s quality of life and the unique heritage we strive to preserve.
